Rivada Space Networks wants to build a European alternative to Starlink

Europe wants to be less dependent on the USA or China for key technologies. This also applies to Internet from space, which is why the EU is pushing ahead with the construction of its own satellite constellation. In addition, a commercial network is also being planned in the EU: Rivada Space Networks from Munich and Berlin wants to build a constellation of 600 satellites within a few years.
