The Outernet for Government & Defense

Using low earth orbit satellites and a gateway-less design, Rivada has developed an orbital network that offers low latency, high throughput connectivity that never touches the public Internet or third party networks. The Outernet’s unique architecture delivers unparalleled security and global reach with true point-to-point services.

Evolving Threats, Emerging Opportunities

The global communications landscape is changing rapidly. Resilient and secure connectivity is needed in new places while legacy communications systems are under attack by both state and non-state actors. Undersea cables are being cut and satellites are being jammed, intercepted and hacked. To address these challenges, Rivada is creating the Outernet – the first truly global private network.

Comprising 600 satellites at 1050km altitude, Rivada’s proliferated LEO system is inherently resilient to radioelectronic and cyber-attacks. It will create a free-standing optical backbone in orbit using intersatellite laser links.

Secure Network in the Sky

Our advanced in-orbit routers connect via laser links to form a private network in space that can be accessed through Ka-band user terminals from anywhere on the globe. Your data travels from origin to destination over the the Outernet without intermediate touchpoints on the ground, across any domain.

“We are committed to delivering state-of-the-art technology solutions to the US government. By establishing a highly secure global communications backbone, the Outernet not only fortifies digital infrastructure on a global scale, but it sets the stage for a fresh surge of innovation for our US government customers to expand their capabilities to meet new challenging mission needs. By tapping into a truly independent global network, we can offer a new level of security, performance and global reach.”
